Service Showcase
In concert with the belief that Kappa Kappa Psi is a student run organization, the council is asking each district to select the outstanding Kappa Kappa Psi service project to band programs in their district. The top selection by each district will then be forwarded by the respective District President to the National Vice President for Programs for consideration of publication in the Kappa Kappa Psi Service Showcase which will be a professional publication sent to all chapters, sponsors and directors of bands across the country. In addition, a check for $200 will be awarded to the band program of each chapter selected by the National Council for publication. The publication will be mailed in the fall of each year, however the selected project's chapter, sponsor and director of bands will be informed of their selection in July, following the meeting of the National Council.
The parameters are as follows:
The Kappa Kappa Psi chapter submitting their application must have met all of their national obligations for the current year.
The project must be a service project that has a positive impact on the band programs. (Adopt a Highway, fundraising for other charities, working for Habitat for Humanity, etc. will not be considered for this program.)
A one-page submission which includes band profile, picture and text regarding the project will be submitted to the Kappa Kappa Psi District President who will then forward it to the appropriate committee for selection.
Some things to consider are band service projects that any chapter can do, projects that have a lasting impact on the success of the band programs, projects which enhance the bands in creative ways. Each district may create its own criteria. Final selection for publication will be made by the National Council of Kappa Kappa Psi.
All submissions should be forwarded to the Kappa Kappa Psi National Vice President for Programs for National Council review, even if not selected by the district as the top service project.
As this is a new process, the respective district president must receive each submission for the Service Showcase by the opening gavel of their respective district conventions.
