1. Omni Hotel Reports the 2001 KKPsi & TBS National Convention is SOLD OUT!
by Lt Col Alan Bonner, National Executive Director

As of June 7, 2001 we have exceeded our room block by over 38%. That's good news and bad news! Good in that we should have a record attendance this summer, and bad because we are getting calls from members who are still trying to make reservations.

The hotel is willing to go above and beyond to help us! Here is what you can do to help them help us:

A. If your chapter has blocked more rooms than you need, please, immediately call the hotel to cancel what you do not need. Call direct to 361-886-3576 (Diana McWilliams) or 361-886-3578 (Teresa Ramirez), and be sure to identify yourself as an attendee of the KKPsi & TBS National Convention. Diana & Teresa will hold any rooms you cancel for others who still need them!

B. If you call the hotel reservations and are informed that the hotel is sold out, call Ms. McWilliams or Ramirez directly and request that they put you on a standby list for any cancellations.

Traditionally, we have about a 15% attrition in cancellations, so there should be a quite a few rooms that free up. I will also work with the hotel to identify other hotel properties in the area that may be able to accommodate those still needing rooms.

For those of you who might feel that we didn't block enough rooms, please know that in 1999, we filled less than our room block at the St Louis National Convention, primarily due to late cancellations of rooms, and the lack of any process to preserve those rooms for our members. Our room block for Corpus Christi is over 1,100 room nights for the entire week. Those rooms are fully reserved at the Omni Bayfront, plus they have extended another 425 rooms to us. As of today, all 1,525 rooms are reserved! If you really don't need all of the rooms your chapter reserved, I appeal to you to call those phone numbers listed above immediately and release the rooms so that others might attend! I know they will appreciate you for doing so!
